Team Venom

Team Venom is the ultimate goal of a PRO Swim Academy student! Venom focuses on teamwork, fitness, and mastering the sport. It’s non-competitive with an in-water coach

If you’re new to PRO with a swim team caliber student who’s ready for one hour practices with an in-water coach who works directly with each swimmer for consistent improvement, you’re Team Venom. (All currently enrolled PRO students qualify for Team once they are proficient Platypus!) Cost is $37.50 per class, charged on the 1st of each month.

Team Venom learns the following:

15 Push Ups

30 Squats

Swim a minimum of 1,500 yards. (30 laps)

Use proper turn determination

Tread water for 5 minutes

  • Social Skills

Child is learning with other children, by watching peers attempt skills and by politely sharing class time and space with them.

  • Swim Team Preparation

Child is learning how to respond to advanced level directions, practice drills, and work with other students as a team for a coach.

  • Learning the Individual Medley

Child is learning how to respond to advanced level directions by memorizing the order of an IM. (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle)

  • Butterfly

Child works each week to improve technique, timing, and endurance. Child begins the sequence by starting a dolphin kick. They then use their arms to pull past the hips and lift themselves to breathe followed by another dolphin kick and a dive back into the water to begin the sequence again.

  • Backstroke

Child works each week to improve technique, timing, and endurance. They begin by using flutter kicks to propel themselves backward while rotating their arms opposite of each other while keeping their face above water. Child uses a thumbs up, pinky back technique to rotate their arm correctly.

  • Breaststroke

Child works each week to improve technique, timing, and endurance. The sequence begins in an extended position with arms straight in front and legs behind. Child performs a whip kick followed by a wide pull to lift themselves up to take a pop up breath. They then return to the water to begin the sequence again.

  • Freestyle

Child works each week to improve technique, timing, and endurance. They begin by using flutter kicks to propel themselves forward while reaching their arms forward one at a time to glide through the water. Rotary breathing is used to increase endurance and speed.

  • Increasing Endurance and Technique

Child works each week to improve technique, timing, and endurance and is showing progression in flexibility and strength.

  • Safety Jumps

Child jumps into the water, fully submerges, and swims safely back to the wall.

  • Increased Treading Endurance

Child can tread water for a minimum of 2 minutes.

  •  Confidence, Perseverance, Independence and Safety

Child’s comfort level is established enough to push themselves to try new things and achieve a higher standard.
